Handmade Christmas...
DIY  Simple Fabric No Sew Holiday Wreath Tutorial
Today I taught a class on making a Simple Fabric No Sew Wreath just in time for the holidays.  It's so easy that any beginner can feel accomplished at making something handmade all by themselves.  So I'm sharing it with you too.

 Materials you will need:

1.   2 yards of fabric
2.   18 inch diameter wire wreath form

Supplies you will need:

1.   rotary cutter (with pinking shear edge blade if you want the scalloped edge)
2.   and cutting mat for cutting
If you don't have these tools and want to use scissors you can do it that way also.
scissors or pinking shears(scissors with a scalloped edge)

Fabric Options:
On pictured wreath I used a thick fleece but you could use ANY cotton fabric, burlap,  flannel, corduroy, or even tulle or a fancy fabric.  You need 2 yards of at least a 45 inch wide fabric.  My fleece was wider so I ended up with a few extra strips.  You can choose to use a few different Christmas cotton prints, just make sure the total amount of fabric adds up to at least 2 yards.  You can also use different widths of ribbons along with your fabric for some added dimension.

3 EASY steps to make your wreath: (see pictures below)

1.   Cut your fabric into 1 inch strips, the full width of your fabric.
2.   Cut your 1 inch long strips into shorter lengths anywhere between 6 to 8 inches.  (For my heavy fleece I used 8 inch strips but we decided for those who made them from simple cotton or lighter weight fabrics, to do 6 inch strip lengths.)
3.    Now simply tie on each strip to your wreath using a simple half of a square knot.  I pushed each tied strip over and covered the wire so they were very close together, for a full look.  I started with tying them to the inner wire ring first, worked my way around, and then continued to fill in each additional ring.

Options for decorating your finished wreath:
1.   ornament or large jingle bell to attach
2.   ribbon to attach and tie a bow onto the wreath when finished

Cut 1 inch strips the full width of your fabric, then cut into shorter 6 to 8 inch lengths.

So there you have it... your very own handmade simple fabric no sew wreath, just in time for the holidays!  What do you usually hang on your door?  I'd love to hear what you do or will you be trying to make one of my wreaths for yourself this year?
