Some of the Vintage Planes that performed at the Air Show

Happy Veteran's Day.  This is a great holiday here in the USA where we take a day to honor all of those brave men and women in the military who fight for our freedom.  One weekend a year, for Veterans Day, my local Nellis Air Force Base, opens the base for the public to come and visit for free.  This is a great opportunity for us to see all of the aircraft up close and many of them in action during an Air Show.  All of the divisions of the military here in the USA take part.  It's fun to see how extremely large many of these different types of planes really are up close.  The men and women there to guide us through the planes are fun to talk to.  Every year when I go I learn something new.  It's an opportunity that you should not pass up if you are ever nearby an Air Show.  I take so many pictures but here are a few to show you some of the cool things you might see at an Air Show like Aviation Nation.

Planes so large I had to step way back just to get the wingspan in the picture!

This large cargo plane opens in the front.

The back also opens for cargo to drive right in.

U. S. Air Force

I love seeing the men and women of the military in their uniforms.

The Royal Air Force visiting from England

Planes on Parade

Planes in all different colors.

Planes in all different shapes.

Vintage Planes show off in the sky.

A highlight of the show are always the live demonstrations!

Then the famous Thunderbirds take to the sky.

The Thunderbirds always give us a long and exciting display of talent in the sky!

Seeing Bombs at the Air Show is always fascinating!

Have you ever been to an Air Show?  I sure hope that you get the chance sometime because it's a great way to learn more about what it takes to keep our military running.  I'm happy to spend Veterans Day each year by learning more about these brave men and women that do so much for me.
