Sunshine Makes Me Happy!
Welcome back, and if my Weekly Wrap-Up is new to you, go back to see what #CreativeViews is all about!  I'm back to share some of my favorite Creative Views from last week.  This Jump Shot of Me was my viewers favorite from my Instagram this week.  But enough about me... lets see what I thought was creative from those I follow.  I will say that even though I follow creative professionals and some excellent photographers, I am often finding myself amazed by the raw creative talent of young people.  They bring a fresh perspective on things and have uninhibited creative views.  They know what they like and don't always care what anyone thinks about it either.  Today I share with you some pictures from some of the young ones that I follow.  Enjoy!
We're not in Kansas anymore!
As a 4th year photography student, Claire @littlecushie on Instagram, has a great eye for detail and it shows in every picture she posts.  Just look at this awesome picture that she shared from a recent road trip of hers.  Even her selfy pictures, that all teenagers take, are very artistic and I'm always wishing I would have thought of that!  Keep up the excellent work so I can continue learning from you.

Urban Lights from LACMA
Check out this cool view that Kennadi @flippinkennadi on Intsagram, took of the Museum display in L.A.  I've seen many pictures of this view before but never like hers.  Great perspective and I love how she uses the light and blur to make this a new creative view too.  Great job girl and thanks for tagging your pic with #CreativeViews so I could find it easily!

Purple Haze
Chelsea @cushieee on Instagram, is living life as a 21 yr. old in Vegas to the fullest, so half of her pictures are crazy and not for the faint of heart.   When she's not out on the town she takes pictures of some of the most awesome views of Vegas from her downtown high rise law office!  She really knows how to use those fun apps on her iPhone and I wish I had her skill!

So what do you think of these fun young Instagram photogs?  Isn't it fun to see things from a new perspective?  Does seeing some of their pictures teach you a few things about how you see the world around you too?  If you're on Instagram be sure to find them there and follow them too.  What was the most Creative View you saw last week?  If you can't remember then maybe you need to open your eyes in a new way this week!

Beach Life
It's August!  Can you believe it?  That only means that we are in our last month of Summer.  It also means that I need to tell you how I have run away to the beach, to soak up that Summer goodness one last time.   Before I know it we will be getting back to the school year routine once more.  I am so NOT ready for that yet!  Our family has a long tradition of attending the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California every Summer.  So have a great week my friends an enjoy this last month of Summer any way that you can.  I'll be back...  was it just me or did this Summer seem to fly by even faster than in years past?    So tell me, have you done anything fun yet or are you still dreaming of digging your toes in the sand?

The Golden Hour

Is there anything more stunning than a Sunset?  I can see why it is often called The Golden Hour, for more than one reason.  There is the golden color that you don't see any other time of the day and the golden moments that happen at this hour.  I've seen many romantic conversations at this time and watched so many memorable cherished pictures being taken during this time.  There is also that golden thought that a friend or loved one in another part of the world is seeing this same sunset too.  It kind of makes the world a smaller place for that thoughtful moment in time.

Laguna Beach

I'm back from my last beach vacation before start of the new school year.  The fun was had,  many memories were made and I thoughtfully enjoyed every single moment of it.  Summer seems to go by quicker every year.  I captured many views of some of the most stunning sunset's that I was lucky enough to see this time.

Santa Monica Beach

During this vacation I was able to travel around to many different California beaches every evening.  I was able to walk barefoot along the water, laugh, spend time with loved ones, explore and take pictures of cousins playing on the sand.  Like each memory, every picture is different, even though they all have the same theme.  Time passes only once and we cannot have that same sunset ever again.  So enjoy it while you can.

Huntington Beach

It's also fun to see the difference in color that each unique sunset brings.  The evenings when there are clouds you know you are in for an amazing fire show in the sky!  Just when I think I've seen the best sunset, another one comes along, amazes me and takes my breath away.

Ranchos Palos Verdes

There is so much emotion that can be stirred up by a sunset.  Love, peace, sadness, comfort and joy all being felt by others watching the same thing.  While some are celebrating, there are others watching the sunset and missing those not with them.

Newport Beach

Oh that we might have an Endless Summer just for one year!  Toes in the sand every day, collecting shells on the beach and watching the sun set deep into the ocean every night!  I'm leaving you with that daydream.  What is your favorite thing about a Sunset?  I'd love to hear what you think.

My Turtle has Skills!

Here in the desert of Las Vegas we have the unique opportunity to have a protected and threatened species as a pet.  The desert tortoise is an amazing animal and , at least I think, the PERFECT pet to have.  They don't make noise, they eat your weeds, they don't make a mess, they take care of themselves and for half of the year they are in hibernation so you don't have to worry about them at all.  But probably best of all I am not allergic to them!  I don't know of a better pet than that.  They are sweet.

I had a turtle as a pet growing up and I highly recommend it.  My turtles came from a family member who's turtle had babies so I did not have to register them.  We currently have four of them.  Their names are "Killer", "Princess", "Bob", and "Baby".  You can guess at what age my children were when they named them and who's turtle is who, I'm sure!  Some fun turtle names we've had in my family over the years have been  Tortellini, Yertle, Myrtle, Speedy.

If you would like a turtle as a pet, the Tortoise Group has procedures for adopting them.  Check out the Tortoise Group for more detailed information on the how-to's for tortoise care and the laws governing this protected animal here in Nevada.  They also have a small Tortoise Group  info page on Facebook.

Here are a few things to know~

1.   Know what plants are both good and bad for your tortoise to eat.
2.   Have a safe and fenced in area/yard with plenty of grass or plants and room for them.
3.   Read the guidelines and build them a burrow for hibernating in Winter and for sleeping in Summer.
4.   I have a sprinkler drip that goes into a large terra cotta dish that is sunk into the ground for a water dish.
5.   Although they love the heat they do need shaded areas to cool off.
6.   If a desert tortoise is raised alone they will be territorial and not want to be put in with others later.
7.   Mine are very smart and come running over when they hear my voice, seriously!
8.   They are great for recycling watermelon rinds and strawberry tops, etc.
9.   If they are very tiny the first year you can cover a smaller habitat with chicken wire to protect from birds and animals.
10.  They make a great pet for show-n-tell at school because many children have not seen one in person.
11.  I've NEVER had a problem but, like any animal, wash your hands after handling to prevent germs.
12.  If you live in Nevada you could be doing something great by helping to save a Desert Tortoise!

So tell me... "What do you think of my pet?"
